Job purpose:

To create the conditions for our secondary teachers to be able to provide the best educational experience for our students.

To lead and manage the appropriate sections of the day to day operational running of the Secondary School, working closely with the other Assistant Heads.

To contribute to the overall strategic direction of the school as a member of the Secondary Leadership Team
Main roles and responsibilities
Ensure all teaching and learning is planned and delivered in a way that creates opportunities for students to meet aspirational goals. |
Create and lead on quality assurance mechanisms for teaching and learning that feed into the school’s performance management systems. |
Oversee the internal CPD programme to ensure a teaching and learning focus and opportunities for the sharing of best practice. |
Work with the Head of Secondary to ensure there are opportunities for staff to attend quality external CPD in line with the school development plan. |
Have oversight of the secondary curriculum and extra-curricular provision, ensuring it creates broad opportunities and meets the needs of our students. |
Have oversight of the HoD line management structure and lead HoD meetings. |
Ensure the smooth running of our assessment and reporting system and that the quality of the feedback given to students through our assessment and reporting system allows them to progress |
In liaison with the other Assistant Heads, ensure that the data reported by teachers can be used in a way that allows for effective tracking and necessary interventions. |
Monitor and evaluate the impact of teaching and learning strategies and interventions on student achievement and progress. |
Liaise with the ALN Coordinator (SENCO) to ensure the needs of all students are catered for in our curriculum. |
Work with the Head of Secondary and the admissions team to ensure admissions processes allow for smooth transitions for students when they enter and leave the school. |
