The ESL teacher’s role entails the following responsibilities:
- Participate actively in grade-level planning meetings and plan collaboratively with homeroom teachers (including developing learning objectives and formative and summative assessments).
- Differentiate ELA lesson content (that is, provide content that can support both those with learning difficulties and those who are high-achievers).
- Record student performance and grades, including in-class anecdotal evidence on students’ language use.
- Make recommendations for further language support to homeroom teachers and the ESL Coordinator.
- Ensure a positive learning atmosphere and an inquiry-based approach to lessons as much as possible.
- Create a classroom that is a safe space to experiment with language for all students while expressing their identities and ideas.
- Ensure students have sufficient opportunities to apply and reflect upon their language learning.
- Utilize scaffolding techniques and differentiate class content and homework to support students who require additional language support.
- Provide opportunities for students to extend and apply their learning beyond the classroom, both in the wider school environment and at home.
- Promote general English use and interest in learning a language in school.
- Proofread school documents and publications when needed.
Teaching certification at minimum.
Experience working with young children.
Working Days and Hours:
・Monday to Friday (following the school calendar)
・8:20 am - 5:00 pm
Benefits:
・Basic Salary: ¥303,000
・Travel expenses: Actual amounts up to ¥25,000 per month
