The Kansai International Academy Group (関西国際学園) consists of several campuses in the Kansai and Kanto regions. This position is at the Kobe Campus. Kansai International Academy Kobe delivers the IB Primary Years Program with a focus on inquiry based bi-lingual learning in a student centered environment. The Kobe Campus is a CIS accredited early childhood through grade 12 school that offers the full continuum of the IB programme. The elementary program consists of grades one to six with students aged six to 12 years old.
Specialist teachers are responsible for delivering inquiry based lessons to all elementary classes on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule. They must implement and develop the curriculum of their speciality in collaboration with the grade level teams according to the IB Primary Years Programme requirements. The curriculum may include long term projects such as the school musical production, community exhibitions, unit summatives, and other events. Candidates with experience teaching students who are learning English as an additional language are preferred.

Expectations:
・Participating actively in grade-level planning meetings to set drama lesson and unit goals collaboratively with homeroom teachers
・Developing drama concepts, skills, and knowledge that grow year by year in all students over the course of the elementary program
・Directing, organizing, and producing the annual whole school musical production by collaborating with the Arts Team, homeroom teachers, and other staff
・Application of constructivist education through inquiry based approaches to all teaching and learning
・Differentiating learning for all students as necessary
・Maintaining and developing digital and analog organizational records for all classes in the drama program (KIA uses Google Workspace, Managebac, Seesaw and other digital tools in daily communications and organization)
・Contributing to school-wide development in collaboration with all teachers and staff
・Participation in school events and extracurricular duties as assigned
・Commitment and motivation towards continual professional development
・Open-mindedness to Japanese culture and customs in the workplace
Qualification and Experience:
・Bachelor's degree in Drama or Performing Arts
・A teaching certificate from your home country (or another English-speaking country)
・Teaching experience in a cross-cultural environment (preferred)
・Teaching experience with students whose English is not their mother tongue (preferred)
・Teaching experience in an IB school with elementary-age students(preferred)
・Experience in directing drama/theater
Remuneration:
Travel expenses: maximum 25,000 yen per month
Relocation Allowance: for those eligible
Paid School Holidays: approx. 8 weeks per year
Teaching Certificate Pay: 30,000 yen per month
